Notice of Website Infringement
2008 Squiggy Classic
(Last Update: February 2nd, 2008)

FAMILY:
Whoa, what happened to SKATETAMPA.COM!  I was looking for pics of skating at Squiggy to see if I can post it on myspace, but the site looks different.  Let me know! (received via e-mail)

FRIENDS:  Do you need more volunteers for Squiggy 2008?  I'd love to help.  Please let me know if you can put me on your list once again. (phone message)

CONCERNED FANS:   We have contacted Birgit Holme and asked her to have our group pictures REMOVED from her website.  Breeze, we are sorry that someone has stolen an event you have successfully done well with over the years.  Good luck and let us know the next skate you put together!  (phone call)

UPSET SPONSOR:  After all the good you have done for so many bladers and people who needed such a nice community of friends all these years, this intrusion by an outsider is very saddening.  (via e-mail)

IDENTITY FRAUD?  Maybe!  A Summons in a Civil Case was filed with the United States District Court and the Complaint was delivered to Brigit Holme on December 2007 for Copyright Infringement.  What she did was remove web items off skatetampa.com and posted it on her own website and claimed it as her origination.   Theft of content was so blatant, skaters believed that the upcoming Squiggy Classic is the property of Skatetampa.com and that the Tampa Bay Road Rollers are still putting on the event.  We are receiving phone calls and e-mails daily and not sure what else to do except post this announcement.

Recently Birgit Holme's Attorney has asked for a Demand Trial By Jury.  This means that she is now involving YOU, the skate community.  Therefore, in order to protect our friends and sponsors from further theft of Club possessions, we have decided to remove all pictures, logo's and video's from SkateTampa.com until a court decision has been made regarding Birgit Holme's infringements.

LET IT BE CLEAR:  Skatetampa.com will no longer be organizing the Squiggy Inline Classic at Flatwoods.  Our purpose for this announcement is not to stop the Squiggy Event!  We are simply pointing out a Theft of Web Content by an individual who pretends, and has publically lead the skate community to believe, through her web site that she is an experienced event organizer when all she has done is take previous years Squiggy skate event medium from Skatetampa and used it as her own.  Bottom line:  We simply do not want to be responsible for any liability, as a result of Birgit's theft.

We are all mature individuals that can make decisions for ourselves of what is right and wrong.  Although some portions of Birgit's website has now changed, she is still guilty of the theft and all the evidence is documented and filed with the Court.  We simply hope that this does not happen to our other Sister and Brother events organizers.  Internet Piracy is a serious offense!  This is not an experience Any Sports Club wants to go through.

We thank you for your past contributions and continued support.  We will do everything possible to protect property that was donated to the Skate Club over the last 12 years!!  One day this will all be over with, and only then will we be able to continue to Skate with our friends and family in peace.
