The Thursday Night skating/bicycling takes place every Thursday Night weather permitting. Thursday Night is not for beginners. The Thursday night pace is fairly fast but there are five rest stops for people to catch up. Rest rooms are available at the Meeting Place, Albert Whitted Park, North Shore Park, the Pier and Ferg’s. Round trip distance of the skate is 11 miles. High light of the skate is a challenging trip around Tropicana field. The Tropicana Field part is only for very good skaters so the cautious do an alternate route back.
We recommend wearing blading safety equipment such as helmets, knee pads and wrist guards. A blinking red light is also recommended, as it is dark late in the skate and for the whole skate in the winter months. Bicycles should have front and rear lights. However,
safety is everyone’s personal responsibility.
The Meeting Place is at the parking lot for the USF located on the SE corner of 6th Ave S and 1st St S. Parking is on the street but is free after 8 PM. The Tavern at Bayboro is also located here and if you eat at the Tavern, they will allow you to park in their parking spaces for free. The Tavern at Bayboro has good food, beer and wine.
We meet from 7:30 PM to 8 PM. Start of the skate/bicycle event is at 8 PM. During the skating/bicycling we stop for a drink and socialize at Fergs.
The Thursday Night skate/bicycle event is a very social outing. Everyone is welcome to join us. There are no costs or dues. Come on out, exercise, enjoy and meet some new friends.
