Get ready for the next Disney
Marathon
April 1st, 2007
THE MARATHON: If you've never done a marathon
before... that's ok! The majority of
skaters will be Recreational, not speed skaters
(you could have probably figured that out by
looking at the photograph above). So
here's your chance to come out and earn a Medal!
On
Saturday, March 31st,
Representatives
from the skate and fitness industry will be
present to exhibit and answer questions and sell
the latest in products and services. The Expo
will take place in the Milk House at Disney's
Wide World of SportsŪ Complex from 10:00 a.m. -
6:00 p.m.
Everyone
must pick up their race numbers and goodie bags
at the Expo.

We reserved 20 rooms, and they will go quick.
So get yours now before their gone. You've
been warned!!
In years
past, most of us booked rooms for both
Friday and Saturday night, since there was an
unofficial skate Friday night (you don't want to
miss this). We also found it convenient to
take our time all day Saturday touring the Wide
World of Sports Complex (and got our goodie
bags) and later that afternoon, a bunch of us
got together and loaded up on our carbs at
Carrabbas, right across the street from the
hotel. Really convenient! If you
only plan to stay only one night (Saturday),
that's ok too! Last year we had to be in
place BEFORE 5:00am Sunday morning, so at
least one overnight to be on time the next
morning is a must.
HOTEL ROOM UPDATE (16 Mar 07):
Just got word that all rooms at Best Western are
SOLD OUT. This means that all the rooms
we (SkateTampa) reserved back in 2006 for the
Apr 07 Marathon, and all other rooms on the
premises are gone! In our efforts to keep costs
down participating in "away" events, we are glad
everyone was able to take advantage of the block
of rooms we reserved. In the meantime, we've
decided to leave the Hotel info posted on our
website in case someone still needs directions
or contact info regarding where we're all
staying at.
A Simple Suggestion: Please take advantage of
(and post to) our
discussion board if you need or have a room
to share. This will go a long way of getting the
word out to everyone.
See you at Disney!!
